Restaurants of the future in accordance with the social distance rule (5)

PLEX’EAT, signed by Christophe Gernigon, offers a safe experience for restaurant and cafe customers sitting at the same table.

While pandemi causes radical changes in our lives, designers continue to produce designs that are unique to this new world. Christophe Gernigon’s hanging shield project, PLEX’EAT, is also remarkable these days when the signals of normal return are coming.

Lightweight and easy-to-clean shields

It is expected that there will be many rules that businesses will have to follow during the gradual return to normal. Tables arranged according to the social distance rule are among the most known for now. Businesses that take extra security measures also seem to gain strength in the competition. Christophe Gernigon’s project called PLEX’EAT is also the type that will make a restaurant or café more preferable than others.

XXL shields hanging from the ceiling, like a chandelier, form a virus shield for the entire upper body of people who eat. The shields are entered through the opening behind them. Hanging cones made of transparent plexiglass allow people on the same table to see each other comfortably. They are also lightweight and can be easily cleaned by restaurant staff before new customers arrive.
